Biography

Mati Hernández Alfaro is a lecturer in commercial law and head of quality and regulatory compliance at Centro de Estudios Garrigues. She is the academic coordinator of the Master of Laws in International Transactions (LLM) and of the Data Protection Officer Online Programme. She holds a PhD in Law from the University of Alcalá and is accredited by ANECA for the positions of assistant professor, associate professor, and full professor. She holds a Bachelor in Law from the University of Alcalá and is a member of the Madrid Bar Association. She boast broad experience in verification and accreditation procedures for official degrees.

She previously worked as academic coordinator on the Master in Business Law, a programme run jointly by the University of Alcalá and Fundación CIFF International Center for Financial Training and sponsored by Santander Bank.

She has been a lecturer in commercial law at the University of Alcalá Law School, where she has taught courses on securities, corporate law, legal framework of the securities market, advanced business law, commercial mediation, industrial property, commercial law, and business law. She has also lectured for the Master in Business Law at the University of Alcalá and the Master in Intellectual Property & New Technologies at the International University of La Rioja, as well as being a visiting professor of the Master in Public Economic Law at Instituto OMG (Dominican Republic).

She is a member of the ‘law and business’ research group and of the ‘problem-based learning in law’ teaching innovation group at the University of Alcalá. She is also involved in the European Intellectual Property Teachers’ Network (EIPTN), a platform sponsored by the European Patent Academy of the European Patent Office.
