Rosa Zarza Jimeno

Rosa Zarza Jimeno is director of the Executive Programme in ESG at Centro de Estudios Garrigues and a partner at Garrigues, where she has pursued her professional career since 1990 and heads the employment law department.

She holds a Bachelor in Law from Complutense University of Madrid. She is a specialist in employment and social security law, with a focus on strategic elements of employment law and human resources. She is also responsible for Garrigues’ sustainability efforts, leading the ESG committee since 2021.

She specialises in employment law matters and advises Spanish and multinational corporations from a number of sectors (technology, industrial, financial, energy, etc.), as well as representing them before employment courts. She boasts extensive experience advising on employment law issues derived from corporate operations such as mergers, spin-offs, incorporations of new branches of activity, and outsourcing processes.

She has also overseen numerous collective processes such as labour restructurings; collective dismissals; modification, harmonisation, and homogenisation of working conditions; contract suspension processes; collective bargaining agreement opt-outs; protocols; and company policies.

She is a leading expert on issues related to senior management of companies, particularly in relation to termination processes, complex remuneration systems (variable remuneration, stock options, shares, flexible compensation, etc.).

Rosa Zarza Jimeno has been featured in top Spanish and international directories. She was singled out a leading lawyer (band one) in Chambers Europe 2022 Best Lawyers, which named her has one of the foremost figures in business law. She has also been included among the top fifty women in the legal sector in Spain and Portugal by the publication Iberian Lawyer.

She has also been recognised by Economist & Iuris as one of the twenty female leaders in Spanish legal practice. The recent Thomson Reuters directory named her a ‘stand out lawyer’ in 2022.

Rosa was a finalist for best lawyer of the year at the 2022 Expansión Jurídico Awards.
