The Spanish Basketball Clubs Association (ACB) and Centro de Estudios Garrigues have launched their joint MBA in Sports Business & Law. The event was attended by Félix Plaza Romero, president of Centro de Estudios Garrigues; and Antonio Martín Espina, president of the Spanish ACB.

Today, at Centro de Estudios Garrigues , the school and the Spanish Basketball Clubs Association (ACB) have launched their joint MBA in Sports Business & Law . The programme is the result of a partnership agreement signed by the two institutions with the aim of offering students cutting-edge training in sports law and business. The event was attended by Félix Plaza Romero, president of Centro de Estudios Garrigues; and Antonio Martín Espina, president of the Spanish ACB.

The new MBA in Sports Business & Law aims to respond to the demands of professionals who wish to broaden their training in sports law and business, preparing them to face major challenges in the sports industry.

The programme launch included a discussion with Félix Plaza Romero and Antonio Martín Espina, moderated by Luis Villarejo Alonso, sports director at Agencia EFE. Félix Plaza Romero emphasised that this new MBA is ‘a commitment by Centro de Estudios Garrigues to train the best students for excellence and to provide them with knowledge and experience in the field of sports business and law.’ He also noted that the programme is ‘a unique MBA, developed with a world-class partner. The Spanish ACB has been involved from the outset to develop the best curriculum and will offer top internships to our students. The sports industry needs highly qualified professionals who are committed to the law and prepared to take on the challenges of today,’ he added.

For his part, Antonio Martín Espina commented that ‘The sports industry is just starting out in terms of preparing executives for our sector, and these steps make perfect sense.’

As an example, he cited the current situation in basketball. ‘We are obliged to sit down and reach agreements — the leagues, the federations, and the European competitions. I think there is room for everyone. It is difficult, because there are a lot of interests, but we have to try. Sometimes, we are the ones who insist on making it difficult.’
